Sony Cyber-shot DSC S780

sony-dsc-s780.jpgCyber-shot® S780 Digital Camera DSC-S780
Online Retail Price: $179.99

Take beautiful 8.1 megapixel photos with a camera that fits in your pocket. The Cyber-shot® DSC-S780 digital camera raises the bar for other cameras in this class. It features advanced Face Detection technology optimizes focus, exposure, and color for accurate reproduction of up to three faces. The elegant body contains a strong lithium-ion battery, a 3x optical zoom lens and a bright, 2.5″ LCD screen. What’s more, a high ISO sensitivity helps reduce blur when shooting without a flash, even in low light.

More megapixels give you more detail and definition when you make big prints or crop in tight on your subject. The advanced Sony® Super HAD™ (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD design allows more light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity and reducing noise. A five-point auto focus evaluates your shot at 5 points on your screen — so you’ll get great results even with off-center subjects that make interesting photo compositions. A five-point auto focus evaluates your shot at 5 points on your screen — so you’ll get great results even with off-center subjects that make interesting photo compositions.

Even if you forget your flash memory card, you can get the shot because 22 MB internal memory lets you capture a limited number of shots with in-camera convenience, then easily transfer your shots to a PC or optional Memory Stick Duo™ Media. You can fire off up to 3 shots at Approx.0.9 second intervals (at any resolution: VGA to full resolution mode) — a great way to capture a child’s first steps or a pet’s best tricks. To adjust quickly for specific shooting situations, you can choose from several convenient photo modes, including Auto, Program Auto, and Scene Selections such as Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Landscape, Soft Snap, Snow, High Sensitivity, and Beach environments. Face Detection technology automatically controls focus and exposure to help reveal faces in shadows, make skin tones look more natural, reduce red-eye, and eliminates harsh facial glare.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC S750

sony-dsc-s750.jpgCyber-shot® S750 Digital Camera DSC-S750
Online Retail Price: $149.99

Wrapped in a simple and compact enclosure, the 7.2 megapixel Cyber-shot® DSC-S750 digital camera is not your typical point and shoot. It features advanced Face Detection technology that seeks up to three individual faces and optimizes focus, exposure, and color for accurate, natural photos of family and friends. The stylish body houses a powerful lithium-ion battery, a 3x optical zoom lens and a bright, 2.5″ LCD screen. Rounding out the package is a high ISO sensitivity that helps reduce blur when shooting indoors or at twilight, even without flash.

Like almost all of Sony’s 2008 offerings, these new S series models includes Sony’s improved face detection technology, which, like the smile shutter technology, can now distinguish between the faces of children and adults. You can select “child priority” or “adult priority” and the camera will detect up to eight faces in the camera frame and optimize focus, exposure, white balance, and flash control.

Sony has also upgraded the two models’ power source to Lithium Ion batteries, instead of AA batteries, to extend battery life and allow for a body design that is just 1-inch slim. DSC-S750 cameras can capture up to 270 and 280 shots on a single full charge, respectively.

They’re also the first Cyber-shot S-Series models to use a high-capacity Sony lithium ion battery instead of standard alkaline cells. This ensures a thinner, lighter profile than previous S-Series cameras. In addition, the slim-line battery takes up less space than conventional cells when you’re carrying spares in a pocket or bag: great when you’re away from home for longer periods and don’t want to run out of power.

Key Features:

  • Face Detection
  • 3X Optical Zoom Lens
  • 7.2 Megapixel Super HAD™ CCD
  • 2.5”1 TFT LCD Display
  • 5-Point Auto Focus
  • Burst Mode
  • Convenient Photo Modes

Sony Cyber-shot DSC G1

Posted on February 17th, 2008 under Sony Cyber-shot | No Comment

sony-dsc-g1.jpgCyber-shot® Digital Still Camera G1
Online Retail Price: $399.99

Revolutionize the way you shoot and share photos with the 6.0 megapixel DSC-G1 Cyber-shot® digital camera. Boasting a massive 2GB2 of internal memory, you can store up to 7,500 images at VGA resolution or 600 full-resolution photos. Take remarkable pictures day or night with built-in 9-point auto focus and twilight mode which automatically adjusts the settings for beautifully clear photos. And you can review your photos on the massive 3.5″ XtraFine™ LCD screen2.

The G1 unit is the ideal vacation camera with 2GB of internal memory, saving you from having to manage extra media cards. It becomes a virtual photo album in your pocket as it can store up to 7,500 VGA-quality photos or 600 6-megapixel pictures. If additional storage is needed, the camera’s capacity can be expanded with an optional Memory Stick Duo ™ media card or Memory Stick PRO Duo ™ card, now available in capacities up to eight gigabytes.

A sticker on front of the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G1 declares that this is a Wi-Fi certified camera. The G1 is compliant with the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standard, enabling it to connect to any DNLA-enabled device via a wireless LAN. In addition, Ad-hoc mode allows you to share your photos with up to 4 other Sony G1 cameras without having to be inside a wireless hotspot. Pressing the WLAN button on top of the camera automatically establishes a wireless network for the other cameras to connect to. You can then take a picture and simultaneously share it with another camera, or choose existing pictures to exchange and transfer. If you already have a wireless access point, you can connect to the network and share images with other DNLA devices e.g. a DLNA TV set or a computer. I didn’t have another Sony G1 to test the sharing features, but the camera did find the wireless network and download images onto my laptop with no problems.

In addition, the G1 operates as an MP3 player. Happy irony of ironies, unlike Sony’s players it doesn’t adhere to Sony’s proprietary ATRAC/ATRAC3 formats, instead supporting simple drag-and-drop file copying. The sound is fine, but given the limited 2GB of memory (which your music has to share with your photo albums) and minimal playback controls–shuffle or linear playback in directory order, with no playlists–it becomes just another awkward convergence device. On the other hand, the ability to use any of your numerous MP3 files as background music for the G1’s very nice slide shows gets addictive.

Cyber-shot® Digital Still Camera S730
Online Retail Price: $129.99

User-friendly controls and highly detailed photos are available at an incredible value in the Cyber-shot® DSC-S730. The compact body features 7.2 megapixel resolution, 3x optical zoom lens, and a bright, 2.4″ LCD screen for reviewing your photos with ease. The DSC-S730 rounds out the package with high ISO sensitivity that helps reduce blur when shooting indoors or at twilight, even without using the flash.

The Sony Cybershot S730 lets you grab clear, blur-free pictures without the aid of flash if you’re shooting in low light or on cloudy days. Selecting ‘High Sensitivity’ mode on the easy-to-adjust mode dial boosts sensitivity to ISO 1250. A new multi-point autofocus mode ensures pin-sharp images, even when your subject is moving or isn’t in the centre of the frame.

Pictures and camera settings can be viewed clearly on the large 2.4-inch screen. Touching a button switches instantly to Playback mode, making it quick and easy to check pictures during shooting.
